In 1995, Arnab Bose and eight members from Nature’s Foster, a conservation NGO, observed a golden langur in the Kakoijana reserve forest, an isolated region at that time from other wild areas such as Manas and Chakrashila, also subject to illegal logging and other forms of exploitation.
The NGO collaborated with American primatologist Robert Horwich to implement community conservation and foster collective consciousness among local residents. Their project sought to prevent habitat exploitation while encouraging sustainability for langurs and other fauna species.
