Kolkata Eco Park, Kolkata’s largest urban park, was created to foster ecotourism within its community. It comprises various ecological zones, themed gardens, and play areas surrounding a man-made lake.

The park features a Baul Gram that offers live Baul performances and artisan cottages and features a 2800 sq foot glass house on Sabuj Sathi Island that includes three open-air viewing galleries explicitly designed to host corporate and personal events.

This park is open Tuesday through Sunday from 2.30 p.m. until 7.30 p.m. It closes for maintenance on Monday afternoons at 7.30 pm, with entrance fees for adults being Rs 30 per person and extra activities such as renting bicycles or riding toy trains costing extra. Furthermore, its proximity to the New Town metro station makes accessing it via public transport easier.

Once your payment has been confirmed, you will receive an email containing an e-ticket; print or show this ticket when entering the park to enter.

The EcoPark, located in New Town-Rajarhat and covering an area of 480 acres, was created to foster ecotourism in West Bengal. The primary attraction is a water body enclosing the park to form an island; locals visit this famous spot regularly on weekends.

Attractions within the park include the Japanese Forest, 7 Wonders of the World, and beautiful gardens. Furthermore, an artificial lake allows for one-hour boat rides and a food court and conference rooms suitable for personal and professional uses.

Adda Zone in the park is another highlight, offering visitors a place for small talk. Eco Park in Kolkata is an exciting tourist attraction and popular family gathering spot, featuring various types of parks and gardens, bamboo groves, musical fountains, and conference rooms on an island in a lake. Additionally, there are conference rooms, private cottages for rental on an island in the middle of a lake, and conference rooms grouped under three distinct headings – Ecological Zones, Theme Gardens, and Urban Recreational Spaces.

If you plan to visit a park, purchasing tickets ahead can save both time and money. Online ticket purchasing makes this convenient; once purchased, you will receive an email with an e-ticket, which can be printed or shown at the entrance.

Eco Park features numerous captivating attractions, such as a butterfly garden, tea garden, and seven wonders. The Butterfly Garden features hundreds of species in an eco-friendly greenhouse-style structure designed to recreate their natural habitat. There are different varieties in each variety garden, offering visitors an experience like no other!

The Formal Garden is another highlight of the park, featuring various species of flowers and plants and an impressive collection of palm trees lining its edges. Although further from Bamboo Garden than expected, it’s worth visiting both gardens to understand better what this park offers.

The Eco Park offers different opening hours according to season. From March through October, its hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 2:30 PM to 8:30 PM; entrance fees for this period are Rs 20 per person, with children under three admitted free of charge. November and February see it open from 12 PM to 7:30 PM from Tuesdays through Sundays and public holidays – an extended operation.

Timings

The Eco Park Kolkata provides an ideal getaway from the concrete jungle of Kolkata. Offering cycling, rowing, boating, and ice skating, as well as cottages and conference halls that can be rented for personal or business use, this park makes an excellent location for picnicking!

The park is open Tuesday through Saturday from 2:30 PM to 8:30 PM and from 12 noon to 7:30 PM on Sundays and holidays; adult entrance fees are Rs 30, while children aged three years or younger enter for free. However, Monday is its sole closure day.

Eco Park Kolkata can best be reached via air travel. The Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport at Dum Dum provides access to private taxi and bus services that will bring you directly to Eco Park Kolkata; from there, you should board one bound for New Town and disembark at Chinar Park stop for ease of travel.
