Okay, let me save you some time.
If you’re planning a trip to the Bradenton area and you’re deep in tabs trying to figure out where to actually stay, pull up a chair. I’ve been recommending the same place to friends, family, coworkers, and one very interested neighbor for about two years now, and I figured I’d just write it all down.
The place is Cedar Run Resort Bradenton. And here’s why I keep sending people there.
First, location. You don’t realize how much this matters until you’ve found somewhere genuinely close to everything. Cedar Run nails it. Anna Maria Island? Ten to fifteen minutes. Downtown Bradenton? Same. Sarasota? A short, easy hop. IMG Academy? Six minutes, which is amazing if you’ve got a kid in a tournament and you want to maximize every minute together.
Second, the setup. These aren’t hotel rooms. They’re full homes. You walk in, and there’s a kitchen with actual counter space, a washer and dryer for when the kids happily cover themselves in sand, dedicated workspaces if you want to handle a quick email, and enough room that everyone has their own little zone. So underrated, especially if you’re traveling with extended family or a group of friends.
Third, the amenities. Let me just list them: heated pool with a water slide, putt-putt course, corn hole, giant Connect 4, paddleball, jumbo pong. Yes, jumbo pong. Yes, it’s as fun as it sounds. My brother-in-law, a grown man with a graduate degree, became delightfully competitive about it.
Fourth, and this is the one that surprised me in the best way: it’s dog-friendly. Genuinely, warmly, welcomingly dog-friendly. I brought my golden retriever last spring, and she had the time of her life. There’s something really wonderful about being able to include your pup in the family vacation.
Now let me share a few insider tips, because I’ve made enough trips to have opinions.
Tip one: Book a longer stay if you can. They offer great discounts for three-plus-night and seven-plus-night stays, and honestly, you’ll want the extra time. The magic kicks in around day three.
Tip two: hit Anna Maria Island early. Like, leave early by 8:30 AM. You’ll get easy parking, the dreamy stretch of beach, and be back at the pool by lunchtime for round two. The system works.
Tip three: grocery shop on day one. There’s a real kitchen, so use it. Some of our favorite trip moments have been lazy breakfasts on the patio with good coffee.
Tip four: explore Bradenton itself. People come down here laser-focused on the beach and forget that Bradenton has its own delightful thing going on. Riverwalk, downtown restaurants, and the South Florida Museum are all wonderful. Worth a slow afternoon.
Tip five: if you’ve got sports kids, lean into the IMG proximity. Tournaments, training camps, the golf club, the whole ecosystem. Being six minutes away makes the entire sports trip easier and more enjoyable.
A few things that have stood out to me over multiple stays:
The communication. Whenever I’ve had a question, the response has been quick, friendly, and genuinely helpful. Real human warmth.
The cleanliness. Every single time, the place has been spotless. I’m a notorious “let me inspect everything before we unpack” person, and I’ve stopped doing that here because it’s always immaculate.
The little extras. Beach essentials. Board games. The kind of stuff you forget you need until you need it. They’ve thought through what guests actually use.
The atmosphere. Other guests are friendly, kids play together, dogs make new friends, and there’s this lovely communal energy.
I think the biggest compliment I can give is this: I plan our trips around going back. We pick our dates based on when we can stay there, then build everything else around it.
So if you’re shopping around, here’s my unsolicited advice. Just book it. Pack light, bring the dog, and let yourself have the kind of vacation you’ll actually remember. The kind where you come home rested and recharged.
You’re welcome in advance.
