Ms. Lisa introduced the engineering design process to support children’s block play at the block center.

What Makes Us Different?

Block play provides children with an ideal learning environment to develop fine motor skills, engage in problem-solving activities, explore design concepts, and express creativity. Furthermore, it teaches social and emotional skills like negotiation and looking at things from multiple angles.

As children build with blocks, they start representing the objects as characters in dramatic play – known as early representation. This allows for more complex structures and storylines to emerge as more children engage in building with blocks. Later, during the bridging and enclosure stages of play with blocks, children create bridges or enclosed spaces between different levels in their structure, demonstrating an understanding of simple geometry and balance concepts.

At the same time, children can develop social and emotional skills through block play by learning how to collaborate with others through sharing materials and taking turns while building. Block play may also increase young children’s attention spans as they remain engaged with constructive block-building tasks for longer.

Block areas offer limitless learning opportunities. That is why childcare and preschool programs must ensure access to high-quality blocks and building materials – such as vinyl soft blocks, unit blocks, and architectural unit blocks used throughout classrooms nationwide.

Learn More About Our Programs

Our complete and half-day programs aim to nurture your child’s creative, cognitive, and social development in indoor and outdoor settings. Your teachers encourage exploration within small and large group settings both inside and outdoors as they promote learning through play in an atmosphere that is safe, clean, and supportive of all.

Our program is built upon the belief that each child is unique. We aim to engage families in the education process through a comprehensive and culturally sensitive early childhood program tailored specifically for individual children’s needs while offering support services so families can meet those needs at home and within the community.

Our center is certified by the New York State Department of Education, and we are members of the Committee for Preschool Special Education (CPSE), offering evaluation services to preschool-aged children with disabilities.
